The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is the primary nuclear research centre in India based in the city of Mumbai and the centre has a number of nuclear reactors that are used in the research and nuclear power programmes of the country.

BARC invites applications from eligible candidates for the position of Stipendiary Trainee for training in their facilities at Kalpakkam. The details regarding this job notification is given below:

Name of the position: Plant Operator

Number of Vacancies: 49

Duration of Training Period: Two years

Stipend during training period: Rs. 6200 pm for the first year and Rs. 7200 for the second year onwards.

Job profile of plant operator:

Candidates appointed for the position of Plant operator, will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

• Maintenance/trouble shooting/data logging/operation/testing/commissioning and erection of chemical process

• Stopping/closing of equipment like compressors, pumps, etc…

• To work in round-the-clock shift

On successful completion of training period, candidates will be posted either as Technician C/Technician B with a pay brand of Rs. 5200-20200 and a grade pay of Rs.2400 and Rs.2000 for Technician C and B positions respectively.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification: For applying to the position of plant operator, candidates must have completed their HSC 10+2 in science stream with not less than 60% of aggregate marks in chemistry, physics and mathematics subjects.

Age: The minimum age requirement is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 22 years as on the 1st of January 2011. The upper age limit is relaxed up to five years for candidates belonging to SC category.

Selection Process:

Candidates will be selected for the position based on their performance in the objective type written test and the syllabus for this examination will be at ITI/HSC/SSC level. Candidates clearing the written test will be called for interview the very next day. Final selection will be made based on the performance in the interview and for the final selection, written test marks will not be considered.
