The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research conducts M.Sc as well as Ph.D entrance examinations in the field of Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Wild Sciences and Physics. Like wise they also organize Ph.D in Computer & Systems Sciences Entrance Examination annually for admitting the qualified candidates to the doctoral level courses in Computer Science and Systems.

TIFR is a prominent institution in the field of Research in India. This institute accommodates about 400 scientists in various disciplines.

Structure of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Ph.D in Computer & Systems Sciences Entrance Exam

The School of Technology and Computer Science consists of two streams. They are Computer Science and Systems Science.

The examination paper comprises of three parts. Part A is compulsory for both the streams. It consists of general mathematical aptitude. There is no particular syllabus for the first section. The second part of the question paper consists of questions from the core subjects of Computer Science. The last and the final part of the question paper contain questions from subjects that are listed under Systems Science. The candidate has the choice to attend either the part B or Part C. The written test carried out for time duration of three hours. The candidates are supposed to complete the examination as per the prescribed time. The test includes only multiple choice questions and there will be negative marks for the wrong answers.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate should be a master’s degree holder in Statistics, Natural Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mathematics, Computer and Information sciences or in any other related disciplines. Students those who have a degree in engineering or medicine are also eligible to appear for the test. Apart from this, the candidate should also hold excellent academic record and strong passion for research in the field of science and technology.

How to apply?

The candidates have to download the applications from the website of the Tata Institute of Fundamental once the notifications have been released. The completely filled up applications must be send with a DD of Rs 500/-. The online applications must be followed with a DD of Rs 500 where as the offline applications should be attached with a DD of Rs 550/-. The female candidates are excluded from paying the application fees. The DD should be drawn in favor National Centre for Biological Science”, payable at Bangalore.

The candidates should fill the applications in a proper way. It is important to read the admission brochure thoroughly well in advance. . Fill in the application forms by following the guide lines that has been provided by the institute. They must fill the data in the appropriate space. .
