UPSC Civil Service examinations are conducted in India for recruiting candidates in different posts in Indian civil services. There are many papers in this examination and we can attempt them both in Hindi as well as in English. This Hindi paper is one of the compulsory literature papers for the candidates.

The number of sections

There are in short no sections in this paper. All the questions are written serially.

The paper pattern and number of questions

There are six questions in this paper and all questions are compulsory. The first one is essay writing. Here one topic is to be chosen and an essay of 300 words is to be written. Then there is reading comprehension. Then we have summary writing in the allotted no of words. Then we have to translate a English passage in Hindi. The next question is to translate Hindi passage to English. Then we have to write the meaning and make a sentence from the proverb given and we have to correct five sentences.

The marks distribution

The total paper is of 300 marks. The essay consists of 100 marks. Reading comprehension and summary writing contains 60 marks each, the translations contain 20 marks each and the sentence making and sentence correcting contains 20 marks each five for each sentence.

The time allotted

The time allotted for this paper is 3 hrs.
