Sashastra Seema Bal is a Central Armed Police Force functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs recruits eligible candidates for Assistant Sub Inspector (Telecommunication) post. HSC qualified candidates in science stream can apply. Also, diploma holders in streams like Electronics or Telecommunication can apply for the same. The selection process for this position includes three stages such as - Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Written Examination.

It is essential to complete 12th class from any recognized board by scoring a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates need to opt subjects like Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in this level to apply for the same. On the other hand, those candidates who hold a diploma in Electronics or Telecommunication from any recognized institutes can also apply for the same. The age limit of candidates should be between 18 – 25 years.

Selection Process for ‘Assistant Sub Inspector (Telecom)’ Recruitment in Sashastra Seema Bal -2013

The selection procedure for this post essentially includes the following stages which is explained below –

Stage 1 - Physical Standard Test (PST) – The recruitment authority specifies minimum physical standards with respect to height, weight, and eyesight for candidates. They must fulfill all specific medical standards to attend further stages of selection. Following are the details about the specified medical and physical standards –

  • Height – 170 cms
  • Chest – Expanded – 80 cms and Un expanded – 85 cms
  • Weight – The weight should be corresponding to the height and age as per the medical standards mentioned.
  • Eyesight - 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without glasses (It is necessary for candidates to possess a high color vision without having any knock knee, flat foot or varicose vein).

Stage 2 - Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – This is the second level of selection for candidates and it is compulsory for candidates to clear this level to attend further selection procedures related to this post. Following are the main physical activities involved in this test –

  • Long jump – 11 feet (3 chances)
  • High Jump - 3 Feet 6 Inches (3 chances)
  • 800 meters Race - To be completed in 4 Minutes
  • 100 meters race – to be finished within 16 seconds

Stage 3 - Written Examination

Those candidates who are able to qualify both PET and PST become eligible to attend the written examination. The written examination comprise of objective type questions for a total of 100 marks. The exam pattern includes the following type of questions –

  • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & basic Electronics - 50 Marks
  • General Knowledge - 25 Marks
  • General English/Hindi - 25 Marks

The total time limit specified to complete the written examination is 2 hours, It is necessary for candidates to score a minimum of 50% marks in the written examination (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC category candidates) to get selected for this post. Those who qualify written examination will put through a detailed medical examination and merit list of selection will be prepared on that basis.
