Punjab Engineering College 2011 Ph.D
Punjab Engineering College (PEC) admits candidates to PhD. courses in a number of disciplines. Punjab Engineering College is one of the most reputed engineering institutes in India. Students from various parts of north India come to participate in the exam in order to get admission in this college.
Punjab Engineering College was previously known as Mugalpura Engineering College and was founded in 1921 in Lahore before it moved to Roorkee after Independence and eventually to its present location in Chandigarh. In 2003 it was notified as deemed to be university by Government of India. College has got the Deemed to be University status in 2009 and in 1994 this institution was adjudged the best technical college in India by the National Foundation of Engineers.
Campus:
The Punjab Engineering College is situated at North End Sector 12 of Chandigarh in an area of 146 acres. The campus is 9 Kilometers and 5 Kilometers from Chandigarh Railway Station and Bus Stand respectively. The campus has Lecture theatres, tutorial rooms and drawing halls, library, computer centre, reading rooms, workshops, Auditorium and well equipped laboratories.

Punjab engineering College is famous for its engineering education but also provides PhD in several disciplines. Admission to PhD is through a written test and/or interview. PhD is available in PEC in three forms: Full Time Sponsored, Full Time Non-Sponsored and Part Time.

Eligibility criteria:
For Full-time Non-sponsored:
The candidate must have master’s degree in engineering/technology/science/management/humanities or equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate.
The candidate must also possess a valid GATE score. For admission to PhD programme in science/management/humanities candidates should also a NET fellowship (UGC/CSIR) in the relevant area.
For Fulltime Sponsored and Part-time:
The candidate must have master’s degree in engineering/technology/science/humanities or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate. The candidate must have atleast 2 years of professional experience with the sponsoring organization.
Important dates:
• Issue of application forms – first week of December 2010
• Last date for the submission of completed application forms – 1st week of the month of January, 2011
• Entrance test – fourth week of January, 2011
