MDS stands for Master of dental surgery. These are a special post graduate course which deals with surgical issues of the dentistry. Basically it is a post graduate program that is offered by colleges of India. The growing dental problems amongst the people all over the country have forced the demands of these courses to a greater extent. Thus the role of MDS in Preventive dentistry comes in to play.

Under this course, one needs to study the various surgery and methods in which the growing problems can be avoided before it really occurs. One needs to be at least a graduate with BDS that is Bachelor of Dental Surgery in order to be eligible for this course. The degree should be from a college that is well recognized and whose courses are regulated by Dental Council of India.

The course duration of this course is not fixed. It varies from college to college. Generally the course duration last for 2 to 3 years.

Job Prospects:

One doesn’t need to search jobs after completion of this degree. One can readily be absorbed in any well managed private or public sector hospital. Par5t from that one can even go and open their practice clinic, or nursing home.
