Uranium Corporation of India Limited was established October 4, 1967 under the Government of India. The corporation was established as a public sector enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. The major objective of the corporation is to fulfill the requirement of Uranium for the Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors. The corporation also plays a very significant role in the nuclear power generation programme of the country.
