SCTIMST or the Sree Chitra Triunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram of the state of Kerala is the institute that has been of Nationwide importance after its foundation by the Act of Parliament. This institute acts as an independent body which obeys its control and guidance directly from the body of Science and technology of the Government of India.

Aims for the serving of the people in the sector pf health as more as possible, the institution also aims to grow out the biomedical facilities available in the country. The institution has been embarked of raising the standards of patient care and medical specialties by providing Post graduate Training in different areas of biomedical domain including a vast scope of public health.

The institute is basically a high level medical institution where only post graduate training programs are facilitated. The institute today offers high level courses like PhD and M.Phill courses in the field of biomedical sciences, health care technology, nursing, basic sciences etc. The courses are integrated as the programs for the various public facilities that the institution runs in its campus in association with the bodies like Association of Indian Universities and Association of Common Wealth Universities.

The institution runs a 239 bed hospital mainly centered towards the diseases relating to cardiovascular and neurosciences. The institute also possesses a wing for the research of new facilities in the field of biomedical sciences for their commercialization. A center of post graduate trainings is also setup for imparting practical knowledge in public health.

The facilities at the campus also include well maintained libraries having international journals relating to the health sector, a computer management laboratory and a spacious auditorium. The admissions are made on the basis of written tests taken up for the applicants to a program of training. Also the notifications are generated over the website or in the primary news journals for inviting applicants of these programs owing to the eligibility criteria of a bachelor’s degree in the field of biomedical sciences.
