Public relations Officer provides communication services for all types of organizations like leisure, investment, fashion, health care, high-tech, publishing, sports, trade, tourism and many other fields. This field of work aims to expand the understanding and support of clients as well as influence their opinion and behavior. The possibility of career growth as a public relations officer is determined by the size of the organization for which he or she works. If it is a bigger organization, the majority of a public relations officer’s work is to deal with the media and public. In a smaller organization, the PR officer might do the whole thing from writing press releases to overseeing employee communications etc.

Qualifying Exam

There are few specific PG and UG courses available, and entry to this profession is normally open to all graduates.

Who is eligible to apply?

Different courses like diploma, graduation, certificate courses, or post graduate diploma courses on PR are conducted by various institutions. Candidates have to attend an entrance exam for getting admissions in various institutions. Those candidates who have passed +2 can also apply for Diploma courses in Public Relations. Candidates with bachelor’s degree, if possible with a background of social sciences or humanities can opt for these courses.

How to prepare for exam and interview?

A PRO must possess different skills as to perform his duties accurately. He should be having full information of the firm where he is working. Technical, manufacturing, HR, finance, marketing are all very key areas in which PRO must have information.  He must be a fine journalist and also a good report maker of the programs. A PRO must be brave and capable of taking leadership and responsibility of the company and must be able to avoid any complaint from outside about the company. A major quality of a PRO is that, he must be able to please people. At the time of the interview, style of communication and presentation are the major trademarks.
