Sikkim University is one of the youngest universities in India and it was established in the year 2007 on the 2nd of July. Sikkim University is offering conventional courses under UG, PG, M. Phil and Ph. D levels through its different schools of education for medicine, planning, architecture & engineering, physical & chemical sciences, life sciences, biotechnology, environmental sciences, computer sciences, media, communication & information sciences, management, linguistics & languages, law & governance, global studies and social sciences. Each of these schools has their own departments with a minimum of three and maximum of nine departments based on the international, national demand. Apart from conventional courses, the university is also offering non-conventional courses through its schools of indigenous & folk studies, sustainable development & livelihood management and peace, conflict & human security studies.
