The Sikkim Public Service Commission came into existence in the year 1982 with the deputation of the staff and appointment of Chairman from the state government of Sikkim. Right from its inception, the SPSC has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting PSC examinations in the state of Sikkim.

Recruitment by SPSC:

Sikkim Public Service Commission has called for applications from eligible candidates belonging to the state of Sikkim for the position of Post Graduate Teacher through direct recruitment on temporary regular basis.

Name of the Position: Post Graduate Teachers (Direct Recruitment)

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 120, which is divided as follows:

 Chemistry – 05

 Biology – 03

 Physics – 10

 History – 06

 Geography – 08

 Political science – 11

 Sociology – 02

 English – 24

 Economics – 07

 Nepali – 14

 Hindi – 15

 Commerce - 06

Eligibility Details:

Education: For applying to the position of PG Teachers, candidates must have completed their PG degree in appropriate discipline with B. Ed. In the case of candidates without B. Ed, they must have completed their Master’s degree with not less than 50% of marks (45% for reserved category candidates). These candidates will be offered with conditional appointment for five years and within this period they should complete their B. Ed, otherwise their services will be terminated.

Desirable: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching and with honors degree at the UG level in respective subjects. Candidates should also possess valid local employment card and this is compulsory.

Age: 18-30 years of age as on 1st of July 2011, upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates.

Selection Procedure:

Written test will be the initial process of selection and after this succeeding candidates will have to take up personality/classroom demonstration test.

Cost of Application:

The cost of application of Rs. 150 should be credited to 0051-SPSC in State Bank of Sikkim.

Candidates can download the application from the website of SPSC at www.spscskm.gov.in and duly filled in form should be submitted by the candidates to the office of the Joint Director of HRDD in their respective districts with original bank receipt for the fee mentioned above. Filled in application should be submitted before 05th of August 2011 before 3.00 pm.
