The National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission (UGC) holds the National Eligibility Test (NET) in the Oriya (Paper III) Paper. The paper is of two and a half hours duration. There are four sections in the paper namely Section I, Section II, Section III and Section IV. The maximum marks of the paper are two hundred. There is no negative marking observed in the exam. Section I has a maximum of five question and candidates have to answer all of them, each in 30 words. Each carries a maximum of five marks.

Section II has a maximum of 15 questions, and each carries a maximum of five marks. Each has to be answered in thirty words. Section III has a maximum of five question in each of the elective or specialization parts. Each of the part has a maximum of five questions, each carrying a maximum of twelve marks. Each has to be answered in about two hundred words. The last section or Selection IV has a maximum of three questions, which are of Essay types. Each carries a maximum of forty marks and has to be answered in about 1000 words. Candidates have to answer any one of the three.
