Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has called for applications from eligible candidates for the position of Insurance Medical Officer (IMO) Grade II Allopathic to work in the ESIC hospitals in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. Here are the details regarding the notification issued in this regard:

Name of the Vacancy: Insurance Medical Officer (IMO) Grade II (Allopathic)

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 75, which is divided between the two states as follows:

ESI Hospitals in Gujarat – 67 (UR-32, SC-12, ST-05 and OBC-18)

ESI Hospitals in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh – 08 (UR-02, SC-05, ST-01, OBC-01)

Out of the 67 positions available in the state of Gujarat, 02 vacancies are reserved for people with disabilities.

Pay Scale: Candidates appointed for the position of Insurance Medical Officer (IMO) Grade II, will be under the pay of Rs.15600-39100+GP of Rs.5400.

Eligibility requirements:

Education: Candidates must have completed a recognized medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or part II or third schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act 1956. These candidates must fulfill the conditions specified in the sub-section (3) of section 13 of the IMC Act 1956. In addition, candidates must also have completed their compulsory rotating internship. Selected candidates, without compulsory rotating internship will have to complete the same before appointment.

Age: Candidates must not be more than 30 years of age as on the 31st of January 2012 and upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for government servants and employees of ESIC in accordance with the orders or instructions issued by the central government. Upper age limit is relaxable for ex-servicemen/PWD/OBC/ST/SC and other categories of candidates according to instructions or rules of the Indian government.

Selection procedure:

Selection of appropriate candidates for the position of Insurance Medical Officer Grade II will be in accordance with their performance in written test, which includes part I (objective test for assessing professional knowledge for a duration of two hours) and Part II (descriptive test of one hour duration in the official language of the state in which they are applying).
