Calicut University was established in 1968. It is located in Thenjipalam district of Kerala. It has nearly 300 colleges affiliated under itself. The domain of imparting education is very wide when we talk of Calicut University and includes fields like engineering, management, dental, nursing and even law. The university has extension centers at Calicut, Vatakara and Thrisur. To cope up with rapidly changing education demands, the university has launched integrated Ph. D programmes.

About the Subject Electrical Machines-II

Electrical Machines II is offered to Electrical Engineering graduates in 5th semester. In Electric Machines II they get to know about various machines like Induction Motors (both single phase and three phase), synchronous motors, DC Motors etc, which are used in industries and transformers.

Division of Paper:

Electrical Machines II imparts an advanced level of knowledge about electrical systems and machines. The paper contains 100 marks and a student is allowed 3 hours to solve it. The paper is subdivided into two major sections. Section A contains 40 marks, while section B contains 60 marks.

Paper pattern & marking Scheme:

The first section i.e. Section A contains 8 compulsory questions. These questions are short answer type, carry 5 marks each and so are very scoring. Section B contains questions, answers to which are explanatory. This section contains eight questions which are partitioned in groups of two each. Out of these four groups a student needs to answer 1 question from each group. A question of section B carries 15 marks each.
