Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) came into existence in 1995. The primary objectives of the authority are construction of houses, as well as promotion of companies, associations and other bodies for urban development schemes in the state of Punjab.

The Chief Administrator or the executive head that is responsible for the overall performance of the Authority is the IAS Officer and Ex-officio Secretary to the Government of Punjab. The authority has town and country planning wing headed by Senior Town Planner, and architectural wing headed by Senior Architect. The basic operation unit of PUDA is the zonal office.
