Kerala University is providing the Lateral Entry scheme to those students who wish to join the B.Tech program after the completion of their diploma. Under this system, students can enter the second year of the B.Tech program directly. To get admission to this course by this method, students must appear for the State Level Entrance Exam that is conducted by the Controller of Entrance Exams.

Eligibility for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering Lateral Entry in Kerala University

The admittance of the students will be done as per the marks scored by them in the admission test. Only those students who have a Diploma in computer science and engineering or Computer science can apply for this exam. Students need to have a score of 60 percent or more in their finals. Relaxation of 5 percent is available for those aspirants belonging to the backward categories. Students of the SC/ST category need to have only a pass. Students who are going to appear for their concluding year are suitable to apply too. The maximum age of students who are applying for this exam is 28 years.

Reservation for Lateral Entry in Kerala University

The reservations available for students are as given below:

Out of the total number of seats available

  • 15% will be of the management quota.
  • DTE - 50% seats

The communal reservations will be as per as the provisions and norms set by the government.

  • Backward Christian-1%
  • Backward Hindu-5%
  • Defense Quota - One Seat
  • Ezhava-9%
  • Latin Catholic -2%
  • Muslim-8%
  • Physically Disabled - 3%
  • Scheduled Caste-8%
  • Scheduled Tribe-2%

Students who are applying for the physically disabled quota must have a disability of at least 40percent. They must also show their medical certificate at the time of admission.

Applying for B.Tech Computer Science Lateral Entry in Kerala University

Admission forms can be procured from the centres of distribution. The form is priced at Rs. 500/- for the general students and Rs. 250/- for applicants of the reserved communities. The payment of fees can be done by DD. This must be issued at any Nationalized Bank and must be taken in the name of the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Trivandrum. The rank list of those students who have secured good marks shall be published by the LBS Centre.
