Qualification requirement:

For seeking admission to the Bachelor of Engineering/Technology course, candidates must have completed their higher secondary in science stream with chemistry, mathematics and physics subjects. Admission to the IITs are made based on IITJEE entrance examination, RECs are done based on JEE score and for other colleges, admission is done based on the AIEEE score or state level engineering entrance examination score secured by the students. To successfully get through the Bachelor of Engineering/Technology, candidates must have sound background in physics, economics, computer applications, mathematics and chemistry subjects.

Higher studies are Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Mining Engineering:

Candidates, who have successfully completed their UG course in mining engineering, can go for M.E/M. Tech course in mining engineering after which they can go for Ph. D in the same field.

Job prospects and career opportunities:

Candidates, who have completed their Bachelor’s degree course in mining engineering or mining engineers, can find employment opportunities in private as well as government sector. Particularly, some of the Public Sector organizations like NLC, IPCL, NALCO, Geological Survey of India, Coal India and ONGC are always on the lookout for eligible mining engineers. In addition, some of the private organizations like Reliance and MNCs like Schlumberger and British Gas recruit mining engineers directly on campus recruitment basis from IITs and ISM. These professionals are also recruited as Project Fellows in Kolar Gold Fields and National Institute of Rock Mechanics.
