Post Graduate Institute, Akola is a constituent unit of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth located at Akola and this institute came into existence in the year 1970. The institute is offering coaching to the students with the help of trained and well-experience faculty members and most of them are Ph. D holders. Due to the best quality education, the institute has developed itself as a centre for excellence and the campus of the institute acts as a conducive atmosphere for both learning and for teaching.

The institute offers PG courses leading to Ph. D in the field of agriculture in 10 different subjects, five different subjects in the field of agriculture engineering, four different subjects in forestry and four different subjects in horticulture.

Curriculum followed by the institute:

The institute follows curriculum as per the guidance of the Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research. The institute periodically revises the syllabus and curriculum of each of the above-mentioned courses on the basis of the emerging needs of the society.

Admission Procedure:

Admission of students to the PG courses offered by the Post Graduate Institute is done strictly based on the merit secured by the students in the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Maharashtra Agricultural Examination Board and in the qualifying examination.

Reservation of seats:

Of the total number of seats available for each PG course offered by the institute, 25% is reserved for ICAR candidates and these candidates will be selected on the basis of their score in the All India Entrance Examination conducted by the ICAR.

Infrastructural Facilities:

Post Graduate Institute is equipped with different infrastructural facilities like tissue culture laboratory, internet facility, computer centre, hostels for gents and ladies, well-furnished classrooms with various teaching aids, etc… These facilities are provided with the objective of improving the learning capabilities of the students and for improving the teaching aids for the faculty members in such a way that best learning and teaching is made possible.
