The paper is very much important as it is the core paper and every candidate must have a good knowledge of it.

Paper Pattern:

Electrical Engineering Paper (II) Conventional Paper of Engineering Services Exam conducted by UPSC is a subjective paper. The questions paper is divided into five parts, first part contains 1 question and other 4 sections contain 2 questions each. Candidates appearing in this paper have to attempt one question from all the five sections, i.e. Question number 1 is compulsory. Every question has 4-5 parts of it. The 1st part is of objective and very short answer type questions whereas other sections consists long answer type questions. The paper is to me answered only in English.

The question paper of the Electrical Engineering Paper (II) Conventional Paper is a subjective paper. Questions asked in the paper are both theoretical as well as numerical. Questions asked in the paper are based on the general theorems and their applications, numerical problems based on different circuits, theorems, derivation of laws, importance and problems of efficiency, current generated power factor, drawing of different diagram etc.

Total Marks and time allotted:

Maximum marks which can be obtained in this paper are 200 and maximum time which can be given to the paper is 3 hours. Question paper is divided into five parts; each section is of 40 marks and one question from each group is to be attempted for it.
