If a Candidate wants to become a highly paid advocate then that candidate should apply for this Law Common Entrance Test (LAWCET).Candidate will be able to study in one of the leading law colleges if he / she successfully pass the exam. All the law colleges provide all the required facilities to the students.

Structure of LAWCET

The Law Common Entrance Test (LAWCET) will be for duration of 2 hours. There will altogether be two hundred questions in the questions paper for about two hundred marks. There will be 40 questions from English sections of 40 marks. There will be 50 questions from general knowledge section of 50 marks. And there will 45 questions each from the Legal Aptitude/Legal Awareness and Logical Reasoning for 45 marks each. The twenty marks questions will be from the Elementary Mathematics (Numerical ability) section. In that section there will be only twenty questions which are very simple .There will also be questions from 10th standard level.

  • Their Representations, Union, intersection and complements of sets,
  • And their algebraic properties, Relations, equivalence relations, mappings
  • Into and onto mappings, composition of mappings
  • Complex Numbers
  • Complex numbers in the form a+ib and their representation in a plane.
  • Argand Diagram. Algebra of complex numbers, Modulus and Argument (or amplitude) of a complex number, square root of a complex number
  • Cube roots of unity
  • Triangle inequality
  • Matrices and Determinants

Legal Aptitude/Legal Awareness

This test will be used for checking the candidate’s knowledge in law.

Eligibility Criteria

The courses are of two types. There are three year course and five year course.

For five year course a candidate must have a plus 2 certificate with minimum 45 % marks as aggregate. The age limit for five year course is twenty years. For the candidates belonging to SC / ST, the age limit is twenty two years.

For the three year course, candidate should have a degree pass certificate .It can be from any of the stream. But the candidate should have scored 45 % and above in the qualifying exam. The age limit for three year course is thirty years. For the candidates belonging to SC / ST, the age limit is thirty five years

How to Apply?

Candidates can buy their forms from the post offices near their area or from the Convener, LAWCET-2011,

The cost of the form is Rs.275. Online forms are not available. Candidates can also get their form by sending a letter to the concerned officer with the DD.

Candidate should only send the form through two means one is by speed post or as registered post.

How to fill the Form?

Fill the form carefully. Candidate should not forget to super scribe on the envelope about the exam. Candidate should fill the entire columns correctly. Do not fill anything which is not required. Fill the items that are only relevant for each candidate. All candidates need to submit the original certificates during the admission so they need to fill the columns accordingly.

  • Application form is available from first week of March, 2012
  • And it will be available till end of April, 2012
  • Candidate submit the form with late fee till May, 2012 second week.
  • Exams will be conducted in the second week of June, 2012

Study Plan

As most of the questions are from general knowledge, all applying candidates need to read a lot of books and newspapers. Candidate should also watch news channels also for getting knowledge about the current affairs. Candidate should look into some of the legal books also to get some knowledge in law. English and logical reasoning will be easy. So if the candidate is good at English and Math’s then they should study those topics in the end.

Cutoff

The qualifying percentage of marks in the Entrance Test is 35% (i.e. 42 marks out of total 120 marks). There are no minimum qualifying marks for SCs and STs for ranking.

Score Validity

The score is valid for one year.
