Paper Pattern:

The paper of foundation studies is a subjective kind of paper and questions asked are 15 in the subject. Questions in the paper are divided into 2 sections; Section A is of 10 questions and 8 from it is needed to be solved whereas Section B is of 5 questions and 3 from it is needed to be attempted. All questions of each section are of equal marks. The 1st section is of short answers type questions and 2nd part is of long answer type questions. The questions do not have any sub-questions in it.

The paper of Foundation Studies is a descriptive one and questions are repeated from the previous year’s paper. The questions asked are such as detail about the important parts of a page layout, detailed note on achromatic, monochromatic and polychromatic colours, detail about 2D and 3D, vector graphics, detail about creativity, various stages in design process, role of grids, computer hardware, typeface anatomy, colour wheel, various characteristics of a good design etc.

Total marks and time allotted:

A highest mark which can be awarded to the candidates is 100 in this paper and time is 3 hours. The questions in 1st part are of 40 marks and each question is of 5 marks and questions in 2nd part are of 60 marks & each question is of 20 marks.
