Jawaharlal University (JNU) is one of the most famous universities in India offering various courses through its Schools of inter-disciplinary research and teaching and special Centres of Study. This university has School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies for language studies. Various courses in different languages are conducted in this school. M.A course for Hindi language is one of those courses conducted for Hindi language. JNU will conduct an entrance test to admit candidates to this course.

Structure and Syllabus of JNU M.A. Hindi Entrance Exam

This exam will be a written test evaluating the knowledge in the following subjects given below

  • Main Literary Trends
  • Authors and Texts of Hindi Literature
  • Ability to critical appreciation of a given text

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should possess any Bachelor’s Degree under 10+2+3 pattern with minimum 45% marks in Hindi language.

How to Apply?

Applicants should obtain the form from the JNU office. They should fill the form along with the acknowledgement card. Then they should write their postal address on the acknowledgement card. Also they should affix a stamp worth Rs.6/- on it. Then they should take Demand Draft of application fee from any nationalized bank. Applicants should submit the filled forms along with this acknowledgment card and demand draft to the following address given below or they can put it into the box in the Administrative Block of the University.

  • General/OBC category: Rs.220/-
  • SC/ST/BPL/Physically Challenged: Rs.110/-

How to fill the Form?

Applicants should retain a copy of the application form for future purpose after filling it with their own handwriting. They should enter the information into the form in block letters using black pen. Then they should darken the bubble indicating the corresponding letter or numeral as instructed in the prospectus. If the applicants need any correction in marking, then they should cover the darkened bubbles with white fluid. After that they can darken again the bubbles indicating correct information. Applicants should specify their name, guardian’s name and date of birth exactly as in the SSLC or Degree certificate. Applicants should complete all details in the form before sending it to the concerned authority.

Study Plan

First of all students should have clear knowledge about the objective of the entrance exam. They should determine earlier how much they should score for the exam and keep it as the target. Refer the topics specified in the syllabus using textbooks available online or offline. They should familiarize with the concerned topics by doing revision frequently. It is better to revise the topics every weekend. They should make a study plan which can improve the skills of the students to attain the exam.

Students should evaluate their personal strengths and weaknesses with respect to the topics for the exam. Some may find problems difficult or some may find theory difficult. It is better to analyze it at the earlier stage itself. Thus they can make an earlier effort to improve their skills. Study plan prepared by the students should specify the time to be given for difficult and easy topics. Study those difficult topics by giving more time than easy topics. Students should prepare notes while studying as it will help to understand the subject well. Writing notes will help to memorize the topics easily. Students should practice questions using old question papers as it will help the students to understand how they respond to each question. Thus they will understand how to overcome their weaknesses.

Results will be available on the JNU official website www.jnu.ac.in. Candidate can check their results from this website. There will be interview for the candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam. They will get the information of date and venue of the interview through post.

Score Validity

Validity of JNU entrance exam score will be for twelve months.
