Their duties include collecting and preparing blood, plasma and other components for transfusion. They store the blood draws and other related documents for future reference.
They perform various tests for checking antigen and antibodies, viruses in donated blood and abnormal samples. They also provide support for the doctors during blood transfusion. They are also responsible for comforting the patients and checking their vital signs during blood transfusion. Blood Bank Technicians usually works in blood-donation centers, reference labs, transfusion blood-service centers and research facilities.
