National Institute of Design is one among the eminent institutes of the country. The institute offers both under graduate and post graduate programs. Graduate Diploma Programme in Design is a four year course.

Different streams of Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) offered in NID are:

  • Communication Design (Graphic Design, Animation film Design, Film & video Communication, Exhibition [Spatial] Design)

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed their higher secondary level of education from a recognized board and those who are appearing for the final year exam are eligible to apply for the course. As a first step of admission process candidates are required to pass an entrance exam conducted by the institute.

Admission Process for Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) from NID

Admissions to the courses are made on the basis of eligibility exam conducted by the institute. Any candidate who has completed higher secondary level of education from any recognized institution or those who are appearing for the final year exam are eligible for the test. The exam will be tested in technical and related subjects. The upper age limit for the candidates is 20 years (as on June 1, 2012). A relaxation of 3 years will be given to those who belong to the backward communities.

Application forms can be obtained from Academic office, NID, Ahmadabad directly by posting a bank draft of Rs. 1050/-. Application forms can also be obtained from selected banks in India by remitting a demand draft of Rs. 1050/-.

The entrance test will be held at different states of India like Ahmadabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

Seat Allocation

The total number of seats allowed for Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) in NID is 75, however the number of seats allotted for each stream will differ based on the stream. The seat allocation is as follows
