NALSAR in the name of NALSAR University of Law stands for National Academy of Legal Studies and Research and the university is a legal studies institution located in the city of Hyderabad in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The university came into existence in the year 1998 through an Act of the state of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The university is offers teaching in law and allied disciplines and it is acting as a fully-residential university. The University Grants Commission has recognized the university and it has earned No.1 rank among the law universities in the nation according to a survey conducted by the India Today. It has also earned No.2 rank in surveys conducted by the Mint and the outlook India.

NALSAR University of Law has entered into MOUs with many foreign universities for exchange of faculty members and students. It has association with three universities in the USA, two institutions in the UK, one university each in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Canada, one law school in Israel, two institutions in Germany and four universities in the Australia. The university offers law education at different levels of education and it confers degrees, diplomas and doctoral courses in the faculty of law. Admission of students to the B. A LLB course is done based on the merit secured by the students in the CLAT Examination. Total admission capacity of the university for B.A LLB course is 70 seats and for LL.M course, the total admission capacity is 50 students per year.
