Banaras Hindu University commonly referred as BHU is one of the oldest central universities in the state of Varanasi, India. The university has over 24,000 students and is one of the largest universities of Asia. The university was established by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in the year 1916.  The university offers several under graduate, post graduate and doctoral courses in arts, science, law, medicine, management etc. Admission to various medical courses is made on the basis of a entrance test conducted by the university. The entrance exam consists of two parts, pre medical test screening and pre medical test main.

Basic Eligibility for BHU PMT

Candidates who have completed their higher secondary level of education in English and science subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany taken together are eligible for the Pre Medical Test conducted by the Banaras Hindu University. For the admission of MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS courses candidates should have a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the 10+2 level of education (45% for General-PC candidates and 40% marks for OBC#/SC/ST and respective PC candidates).

For admission in B.Pharm courses the candidate should have a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in the higher secondary exam (55% marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates). Candidates who are appearing for the final year exam are also eligible for the exam.

Age Qualification for BHU PMT

Candidates, who are under the age group of 17 to 25 as on 31st December, 2012 are eligible for the exam.

Application forms for the BHU PMT

Application forms for the Banaras Hindu University Pre Medical Test can be collected directly from selected branches of Bank of Baroda by paying a cash amount of Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST candidates). Application forms can also be obtained through post by sending a written request via Registered Post together with a demand draft of Rs. 1600/- (Rs. 1100/- for SC/ST candidates) to the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005. The demand draft should be drawn in favor of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi. The request should include details such as name of the candidate, address of the candidate and details of the demand draft.  They should also enclose two self-addressed white paper slips of 10 by 6 cm size along with the application form. They preferred the same to typed than hand written.
