Those who want to join Integrated Ph.D programme in Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences or Mathematical Sciences should first of all obtain First Class B.Sc or equivalent degree in relevant stream. Then they should appear for either IISC Entrance Test or Joint Admission Test (JAM). They need to attend an interview round if short listed based on their entrance test score.

Eligibility requirements for different Integrated Ph.D courses in IISc

Integrated Ph.D in Biological Sciences - Minimum educational qualification required to join this Ph.D programme is a B.Sc or any equivalent degree in Biology/Agriculture/Physics/Veterinary Science/ Chemistry/Pharmacy. Minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade is required in the concerned undergraduate degree

Integrated Ph.D in Chemical Sciences - To pursue Integrated Ph.D programme in Chemical Sciences, one should complete their B.Sc or equivalent degree with Chemistry as main subject. Also, it is necessary to obtain minimum of 60% marks at the graduation level. Candidates should also have studied Mathematics during senior secondary or graduate level.

Integrated Ph.D in Physical Sciences - Those who are interested to pursue Ph.D in Physical Sciences should have B.Sc or equivalent degree with Physics as compulsory subject. They should pass the final examination with a minimum score of 60% marks.

Integrated Ph.D in Mathematical Sciences - If the candidates possess B.Sc or equivalent degree with Mathematics as main subject, then they can join Ph.D in Mathematical Sciences. But they have to obtain minimum 60% marks for that undergraduate degree. B.E/B.Tech or its equivalent degree holders can also pursue this Ph.D programme.

Candidates should obtain their qualifying degree from a University approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). Relaxation will be given for SC/ST candidates and they need to obtain only the minimum pass marks for the qualifying degree. Those who are appearing for the final examination of qualifying degree are also eligible for applying to this Ph.D programme, if they can submit the degree certificate (original or provisional) at the time of admission.

Appear for the selection process

Those who want to get admission to Integrated Ph.D programme should appear first for IISC Entrance Test or Joint Admission Test (JAM). Candidates will be short listed according to their score obtained in these entrance tests and interview letters will be sent to the meritorious candidates. It will be published in the official website of IISC.

Candidates should take the print out of that letter and attend the interview scheduled on a specified date. Competent authorities will evaluate their performance in relevant entrance test and interview. The list of candidates who are selected after test and interview will be published in the IISC website. Students selected will also receive offer letters.
