Usual Admission Procedure for Ph.D in Management
NMIMS School of Business Management, Delhi University, Lovely Professional University, etc are some of the institutions offering doctoral programs in management. Eligibility procedure and selection procedure will vary according to the University or institution.
Eligibility for Ph.D in Management
Those who have completed master’s degree in management (like MBA, MFM, etc) or Post Graduate Diploma in Management (if approved by AIU) are eligible for Ph.D course in Management. Candidates having master’s degree or M.Phil in allied subjects can also apply. These general eligibility norms may vary according to the University/institute that offers the course.
Delhi University offers admission to candidates having any of the above mentioned qualifications with minimum 50% marks. Apart from this, the University also offers admission for B.E/B.Tech holders, MBBS graduates, etc who have completed their bachelor’s degree in four years or more. Such candidates must possess minimum of 65% marks.
In order to get admission to NMIMS School of Business Management, candidate must hold any of the above mentioned master degree qualifications with minimum 60% marks. Candidates who have obtained the qualification through distance or correspondence mode are not eligible for admission. For part time Ph.D programs the applicant should possess minimum 5 years of work experience.
Selection Procedure for Ph.D in Management
NMIMS School of Business Management offers admission on the basis of written test, Research Aptitude Test, and personal interview. Pattern of the written test will be same as that of CAT, GMAT, etc. Candidate can expect questions on quantitative aptitude, reasoning, verbal ability, reading comprehension, etc in this section. Research Aptitude Test is meant to evaluate the analytical and research skills of the candidate. During admission process, 50% weightage is given to marks scored in aptitude test, 25% for Research Aptitude Test and 25% for personal interview session.
Lovely Professional University offers admission on the basis of written exam and interview. The written test is conducted in subjective model. Duration of the test is 3 hours. Question paper of the test consist of two parts, Part A and Part B. Part A consists of 10 questions where as Part B comprises of 6 questions. Total marks for the test is 100. Each question from Part A carries 5 marks each. First 5 questions of Part B carry 5 marks each and the last question carries 25 marks.
Delhi University, Thapar University, etc offer admission on the basis of written exams carried out by the University. In order to attend the selection process, candidate must submit separate applications. Details on application process can be collected from the web portal of the concerned University.
