Admission procedure to medical colleges in Pune is based on the Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) conducted by the Maharashtra Government. Universities like Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University and Dr. D. Y. Patil University conducts entrance examination on an all India basis for admission to its medical colleges. Candidates are required to fulfill all the specified eligibility criteria.

Admission procedure

Admission to the government medical colleges in Pune is based on the centralized allotment process conducted by the Government of Maharashtra. The allotment is based on the Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET). The admission process is handled by the Director, Medical Education and Research (DMER). The examination fee is Rs 700 for regular candidates and Rs 500 for candidates belonging to the reservation category. Admission to 15% seats in Government medical colleges in Pune is through the All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT).  Candidates who have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects are eligible to apply.

Armed Forces Medical College, Pune offers various post graduate and under graduate courses in medicine. It is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Admission to the MBBS course is based on the marks secured in the Armed Forces Medical College Entrance examination. It includes a written test followed by an interview. The entrance examination follows the objective model question paper. It comprises of 200 questions to be answered in 2 hours. 50 questions each from Biology, Physics and Chemistry can be expected. 25 questions each from Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning and English language and comprehension are also included in the exam.

Admission to the Master’s programmes will also be based on an entrance examination. Candidates applying for the post graduate courses are required to possess a degree in MBBS.   Candidates are also required to undergo a medical fitness test.

Admission to the Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College is based on the all India Common Entrance Test conducted by Bharati Vidyapeeth University. Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College for Women also conducts an All India Common Entrance Test (AICET) for admission to the medical course. Selection to the course is based on the marks secured for Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination along with the entrance examination score.
