Mathematics graduates can seek admission to M. Sc. (Mathematics) in Pune University by qualifying an entrance exam. Marks obtained in entrance test as well as qualifying degree are considered for admission. Selected students must study topics like Complex Analysis, Mechanics, Algebraic Topology, and Hydrodynamics under the course. The University charges different fees for students of Maharashtra, students outside Maharashtra, and foreign nationals. Tuition fee for Maharashtra domicile students is Rs. 1250/- per annum and that for students outside Maharashtra is Rs. 2500/- per annum.

Admission Procedure for M. Sc. (Mathematics) in Pune University

Bachelor degree in mathematics is the basic qualification to apply. Science graduates having studied mathematics up to second year can also apply. Total intake capacity to the course is 60. Out of this, 50% of the seats are reserved for students from Maharashtra state (of reserved category).

Admission is done on the basis of an entrance test conducted at the University and qualifying exam marks.  Both objective and subjective type questions are asked for the entrance test. Out of a total of 60 questions, 25 questions are of objective type and rest of descriptive model. Total marks for the entrance test is 100 (50 marks for objective type questions and 50 marks for descriptive type questions). Time allotted for completing the test is 3 hours.
