School students from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are eligible for Velammal Science Scholarship. Such students must be studying in any classes between class I and class XII. Selection of eligible candidate is done through a two stage process. Preliminary round comprises of a written test based on the topics covered in the concerned class. Those who get through the preliminary round should attend the final round organized at regional headquarters. First prize winner is awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/-.

Overview of Velammal Science Scholarship

Students studying from class I to XII can avail the benefit of this scholarship. Such students must be studying in any of the recognized schools of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Students in class 1 and class II are classified to level I, class III and class IV to level II and so on.

Candidates interested in the scholarship scheme can apply through the Principal / HM of the concerned school. Selection process is made through two rounds, preliminary and final. Preliminary round selection is conducted in the concerned school. The Head of the Institution coordinates and supervises this preliminary round exam.

Certain amount of fees is deducted from each participating school. Fee to be paid depends on the entries made by the concerned school. If the number of students participating the scholarship program falls between 25 and 100, then the fee to be paid is Rs. 30/-. Fee details (according to the number of entries) are listed here.

• Entries -501 – 1000- Rs. 20/-
• Entries -1001 - 2000- Rs. 18/-
• Entries -2001 and above - Rs. 15/-

Fee must be paid in the form of Demand Draft payable at Chennai, and it must be drawn in favor of ‘The Organizer, Velammal’s State Level Science Talent Search Exam’.

Selection Process for Velammal Science Scholarship

Selection of eligible candidate is done through a two stage process. Preliminary round comprises of a written test based on the topics covered in the concerned class in which the candidate is studying. Questions on mathematics and general science will be asked for class I to VI. For students from class VII to X, questions are asked from subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Questions on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are asked for students studying in class XI and class XII.

In the preliminary round, the best one out of a group of 25 students is selected. If the number of students is more than 25, then students are selected as per the total number of enrolment. In case, if the number of participating students is 100, then the best four students, out of the group will be selected. Selected students should attend the final round written test conducted at regional headquarters.
