Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil (Commerce) in Madras University
Master’s degree in commerce is the qualification required for M.Phil (Commerce). Candidates with any other equivalent qualification are also eligible to apply. The qualification must be obtained with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks and it must be recognized by the University of Madras.
Admission Procedure for M.Phil (Commerce) in Madras University
Admission of eligible candidates to M.Phil (Commerce) programme in Madras University is done on the basis of qualifying examination marks, written test and interview. A weightage of 50% is given for marks obtained in qualifying exam. Qualifying examination marks is calculated as — (Total aggregate marks * 50%) / Number of major and allied subjects.
Forty percent weightage is given for marks obtained in entrance exam. There are two sections for the entrance test. Total marks for the test is 80. Candidates are requested to complete the test within 2 hours. Multiple choice type questions are asked in Part I. There will be 60 questions for 60 marks. This section is based on current affairs in the realm of commerce. In Part II, there are two questions of essay type. Each of the questions must be explained in not less than 100 words. Questions will be based on existing business trends and business research and session carries 20 marks.

Application can be submitted via an application form collected from the web portal of Madras University. Application fee is Rs. 500/-. Filled up application forms must be submitted through offline method.
