Thapar University conducts admission process for admission to its Master in Computer Applications (MCA) Program. Thapar University was established in 1956 as Thapar Institute of Technology (TIET) and thus is one of the oldest technical institutions in India. It was granted the status of Deemed University in 1985 by University Grants Commission. It is considered to be among the very best engineering colleges in India. Thapar University has a 250 acre campus located in Patiala, Punjab with very good infrastructure. Students passing out of Thapar University get the best placement opportunities from the highly reputed companies.
Thapar University has been known for its excellent placement along with highly qualified teaching staff. The University provides an exceptional infrastructure that house different departmental buildings along with highly dedicated team of teachers that favors technological based education. Thapar University provides a number of Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral courses in engineering. Admission to its MCA program is through a written test conducted by Thapar University. Thapar University provides MCA course in Regular as well as distance education mode through the same written test. Regular Mode has 120 seats whereas distance education mode has 60 seats.
Eligibility criteria
A candidate should have a bachelor’s degree with Maths at 10+2 level or Graduation level. Those appearing in the final year of the graduation can also apply. There is no age limit to apply for MCA.
Availability of Forms:
The forms will be available directly from the University Counter. The form can also be obtained by post from Thapar University by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form. Candidates can also download or apply online through the website www.thapar.edu. The application from can also be perceived through post. The candidates have to send a requisite letter along with mentioning of the registration number at the top side as well as a specimen of their signature at the back side of the Demand Draft.

Last Date for sale of Application Forms by Post: Mid-May, 2011
Last date for receipt of completed application forms: 26th May, 2011
Date of Entrance Test: 13th June, 2011
Declaration of Results: June 3rd week, 2011
Pattern of Entrance test:
The Entrance Test will be of 3 hours duration consisting of 200 multiple choice questions divided as follows:
Mathematics:80 questions
Computer Awareness: 60 questions
Analytical Ability, Communication Skills & General Knowledge: 60 Questions
There will be 4 options for each questions. Candidates will get 1 mark for every correct answer and 1/4th marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer. For detailed syllabus of test and model questions refer to the link: Syllabus for MCA Entrance
