Seeds and Tarai Development Corporation was formed on June 29th, 1969 by GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology University, Government of India and Farmers of Tarai area. The corporation was restructured as U.P. Seeds and Tarai Development Corporation Ltd during the year 1978. Then the Corporation was named as Uttaranchal Seeds and Tarai Development Corporation Ltd in 2003, after the division of Uttar Pradesh State. The Corporation finally became Uttarakhand Seeds and Tarai Development Corporation Ltd (UKSTDC) in 2009. The mission of the Corporation is to accelerate the farm production and productivity per unit so as to improve the socio-economic status of the rural areas. The main objectives of the Corporation are to provide improved quality seeds to farmers so as to increase productivity and improve the economic status of the farmers.
