National Institute of Technology, Agartala (NITA) formerly known as Tripura Engineering College is one among the 20 NITs which was established by Central Government. NITA was established in 1965 with a mission to help promote the economic development of the country especially in the North-Eastern part by providing good quality technical education. Currently, the Institute offers 9 under graduate courses and 15 post graduate courses and 9 doctoral courses in several fields. The various departments in the institute include Civil Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil & Transportation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, and Production Engineering.
