Courses offered in IIM Kolkata

Structure of the courses offered in IIM Kolkata

PGDBM – This 3 year course has a total of thirty courses in addition to a project. The course comprises of elective and compulsive courses that are offered and designed by different academic centres and groups of the institution. The course aims at providing both practical as well as theoretical knowledge in different disciplines.

Executive Program in Human Resource Management - This program is intended to be pragmatic by way of case method teaching. Apart from this, the course also accommodates more line managerial and business point of view on HRM. This in turn can be considered to be as the prerequisite for successful HRM as well as professionals of general management of today. The course has duration of 10 months.

Executive Program in Business Management – This program has a time period of one year. The EPBM is intended to contribute to the development of management inside the systems and structure of organizational behavior. This is done by the amalgamation of management theory and tools with the aid of practical insights and participation.

Evaluation process of Post graduate courses

Executive Program in Human Resource Management – There are four components for the evaluation of this program. These include Class Participation, Case Presentations, Quizzes and Term End Assessment

STEP – All courses of this program are instructed in English. The method of instruction will vary with each course. Some particular courses will include group and individual projects, Case studies, role plays, quizzes etc. Grading system is also prevailing here.

IIM Kolkata Course Admissions

Candidates who wish to join the PGDM and the PGDCM are required to have a graduate degree in any stream. Those who wish to join the Fellow program should have a master’s degree in any stream. The applicants must have secured a least amount of 55 percent marks in their finals. Students who have graduate degree in engineering are also eligible to apply for this program. Those students who are going to appear for their year end exams can apply too. Prior to their joining of the programmes, the students will be needed to take the Common Admission Test or an alternative test depending on the specialization.

Scholarships offered at IIM Kolkata

Several scholarships are sponsored by a variety of firm like Aditya Birla Group, HUL and Ratan Tata Trust etc. These scholarships are given to students on the basis of their merit and a range of other criteria. Scholarships for students of the SC/ST/PWD categories are sponsored by the NTPC.
