To become a Commercial Pilot, one needs to go through the following stages:

Student Pilot License (SPL)
Private Pilot License (PPL)
Commercial Pilot License(CPL)

To get SPL, you will have to qualify a written examination conducted by flying clubs in every State. The examination comprise of the following subject area: Air Regulations
Aviation Meteorology
Air Navigation etc.

After qualifying the exam and getting the Student Pilot License, you will have to undergo a flying training. After 12-15 hrs. of flying accompanied by the instructor, you will need to complete a minimum of 30 hours of solo flight and cross country flying for a minimum of 5 hours.
After completion of the practical training, you will have to qualify an entrance exam too to get Private Pilot License (PPL)

Once you complete this stage and complete a total of 250 hours of flying, along with fitness test and an entrance examination, you will be eligible to become a commercial pilot and get a commercial pilot license.
