Data analysis is the field which involves the process of analyzing, refining, conversion and making out the raw data into useful information. The process suggests conclusions and support decision making. The professionals working in this field are called data analysts. They work with the data or cast a sense to the information which is hidden in the raw data. These people perform their work using queries or mine the data to make information.
Data Analysts are required in various fields which include IT, sales, finance, retails, etc. They are responsible for analyzing, sorting and make sensible information from the data for future reference. The primary requirement to become a data analyst is a bachelor’s degree from any reputed university. There is no specific branch of study in this field. However those who have pursued a degree in computer science or IT are eligible for this profession. Training in specific software applications or data management and statistics may help the candidates more in pursuing their career as data analyst. They must have relevant work experience also in this field. Candidates can acquire this experience by working in various industries as business analyst, software developer or computer programmer.

Students who have finished their higher secondary education in any of the science subjects from reputed institutions can apply for the Bachelor’s degree programme in related subjects. Knowledge in any of the computer software applications or specific data management or statistics is also a necessary qualification for this job.

- Pursue a pass in the 10+2 examinations from any reputed institutions and with good academic scores. Make a strong hold on the Computer and Mathematics subjects from this level itself.
- Pursue the Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology or other related subjects from any recognized university.
- Do addition courses or undergo training programmes in any computer software language or specific data management or statistics.
- Gain experience in this field by working with any of the companies as business analyst, programmer or developer.
- Search for the companies which recruit candidates for the post of Data Analyst and apply for it.

Computer skill is one of the most important skills that a professional needs to perform in the role as Data Analyst. They need training in specific software or other specialized field which is used in this field of work. They must have an excellent analytical mind and problem solving skills. A better understanding in database systems and concepts in data management is very helpful for these professionals.
