Essential details on MCAT Exam
Medical College Admission Test is conducted for admission to various courses related to medicine in United States and Canada. A graduation in science subject is the basic educational qualification required for this exam. Candidates can expect objective type as well as descriptive type questions in this exam. Questions will be asked from topics such as Physical Sciences, Verbal Reasoning, Biological Sciences and Writing. Applications can be forwarded through the web portal of Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR).
Eligibility Criterion for Medical College Admission Test
Candidates who wish to pursue graduate courses such as Allopathic, Osteopathic, Podiatric, and Veterinary Medicine in Institutions in United States of America and Canada are eligible to apply for this exam. Under Graduation in Science subject is the basic educational qualification required for the exam. They need to submit certificate verifying that the test is for the purpose of applying to a health professions school. Candidates who are not applying for health profession course will have to obtain special permission so as to apply for the exam.
Exam Pattern of Medical College Admission Test
The examination contains questions from four topics such as Physical Sciences, Verbal Reasoning, Biological Sciences and Writing Sample. Questions in Physical Sciences, Verbal Reasoning and Biological Sciences will be in multiple choice objective type formats. Writing Sample consists of two essay type questions.
Physical Sciences section contains 52 questions from topics such as General Chemistry and Physics. Maximum time allotted for this section is 70 minutes. There will be 40 questions in Verbal Reasoning related to Text Comprehension and Data Analysis. Candidates are required to answer all questions within one hour. Writing Sample comprises of 2 descriptive questions which have to be answered in one hour. Biological Sciences contains objective type questions from topics like biology and organic chemistry. This section contains 52 questions and the time allotted is 70 minutes.
There will be specific cut offs for each section. There will not be any negative marking for incorrect answers. The final cut off marks for the exam is determined on the standard deviation depending up on the number of applicants who have attended the exam.
Application Procedure for Medical College Admission Test
Candidates who wish to appear for Medical College Admission Test are required to apply online through the official website of Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR). Candidates are advised to register 60 days in advance before the stipulated time. Those who have successfully applied for the examination will be intimated through email. Candidates have the choice to select their exam centre and to change it prior to deadline.
