The University of Kashmir, Srinagar conducts Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (J & K SET) on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Government. There will be three (objective model) papers for the test. Paper I is of general nature and questions based on topics like research/teaching aptitude, general awareness, and reasoning ability. Paper II and Paper III are based on the topics covered under qualifying exam.

Exam Pattern for J & K SET Exam 2013

There will be three papers (of objective model) for the test. Paper I and Paper II will be conducted at morning session where as Paper III will be conducted at afternoon session.

Exam Pattern for Paper-I

Paper I include 60 questions, out of which the candidate needs to answer 50 questions only. In case, if any candidate has attended more than 50 questions, then the first 50 answers will be considered for evaluation. Duration given for completing this paper is 1 ¼ hours. Each question carries 2 marks to give a total of 100 marks. Paper I is of general nature and questions based on research/teaching aptitude. Other topics asked for first paper is as follows.

  • Comprehension
  • Divergent thinking
  • General awareness
  • Reasoning ability

Exam Pattern for Paper-II and Paper-III

In Paper II, there will be 50 questions all of which are compulsory. Two marks are given for each correct answer. Candidates need to answer this paper within 1 ¼ hours.  Paper III comprises of 75 questions. Two marks are given for each question. So the total marks for the test is 350. Syllabus for Paper II and Paper III are based on the subject selected for attending SET.

Visually Challenged candidates are given with relaxation in exam duration. They will be given with extra time of half an hour (separately) for Paper I and Paper II. For Paper III, these candidates are given with extra time of 75 minutes.

Aspirants need to obtain a specific cut off marks in each paper to qualify. General category candidates need to obtain a minimum of 40% marks each in Paper I and Paper II, and at least 50% marks in Paper III. Candidates belonging to OBC category are required to have at least 35% marks in Paper I and Paper II. For them, 45% marks is enough to qualify Paper III. Thirty five percentage marks in each of Paper I and Paper II are required for SC/ST candidates. They need to hold 40% marks in Paper III. Merit list is prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in all of the three papers.
