Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (J & K SET) is conducted to select eligible candidates for lectureship. The test is organized by University of Jammu and University of Kashmir. Master degree holders from any of the recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks can apply. There are three papers for the test covering questions on subject related and teaching/research aptitude topics.

Eligibility Criteria for J & K SET 2013

Master degree holders from any of the recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks can apply. In case of SC/ST candidates a minimum of 50% marks is enough to apply. Final year PG students who have appeared or will be appearing for final year examination are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will be admitted provisionally and must qualify the PG degree at least within two years to avoid disqualification. Ph.D holders who apply for the test are offered with 5% relaxation of marks. There is no upper age limit to apply for J & K SET.

Exam Pattern for J & K SET 2013

The test is conducted in three sessions. Only objective model questions are asked in these three papers. There will be 60 questions in Paper-I, in which candidate need to answer 50 questions. In case, if candidate attempts more than 50 questions, the first 50 questions will be selected for evaluation. Questions for this session are asked for 100 marks (each question carries 2 marks) and total time allotted is 75 minutes. First paper is common to all candidates and is of general nature. Teaching/research aptitude is basically evaluated through this paper. Questions for the test are based on the following topics.

  • Comprehension
  • Divergent Thinking Ability
  • General Awareness
  • Reasoning Ability

In Paper II, there are 50 questions of compulsory nature. Each question carries 2 marks to give a total of 100 marks for the session. Subject related topics are asked and time duration given for completion is 75 minutes.

Paper III is also based on subject related topics. Seventy five questions asked from this session are to be compulsorily attempted. Each question carries 2 marks to give a total of 150 marks. Two and half hours are given for attending this paper.

In order to qualify the test, candidates should necessarily obtain a minimum of 40% marks in paper-I and paper II. A minimum of 50% marks in paper III is required to qualify. SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates need to score at least 35% marks in paper I and paper II.
