National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research was formed on May 25, 1998. The headquarters of the research centre is located at Vasco da Gama, Goa. Mr. Rasik Ravindra is the director of the National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research. The major objective of the establishment of the centre is to provide a Indian research and development institution. The centre is responsible for administering the Indian Antarctic Program and maintains the Antarctic research station of the Government of India.
