Fabric Designer- How to become Fabric Designer?
Fabric designers design various patterns in cotton, fake fur, carpets, upholstery etc. They can either work in clothing companies or sell their pattern to manufacturing companies. If there is a company with lots of fabric designers, then these designers will specialize in various areas. Some of these designers will focus on colors while some others concentrate on computer design. If the fabric designer is aware of any traditional fabric printing techniques, then they can work as artists creating unique fabrics.
Qualifying Exam
Those who aspire to become fabric designer should possess diploma or degree in Fashion designing. Several fashion technology institutes in India are offering this course. They can also go for post graduation course in Fashion designing. Experienced fashion designer can do any specialization course in Fabric designing.
Who are eligible to apply?
Candidates who wish to do undergraduate course in fashion designing should pass plus two with fifty percentage marks. Those who apply for the undergraduate course in fashion designing should qualify the entrance test conducted by the concerned Institute. Some Institutes conducts group discussion and interview along with the written test to admit candidates to the fashion designing course. The most famous Institute offering fashion designing course in India is National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). After doing graduation, candidates can do post graduation in the same field. Candidates who wish to do post graduation should also qualify the entrance test conducted by the corresponding Institute.

Fashion designers need to be creative as they design various patterns. They should have a better understanding of design principles. They should have a better idea about which pattern will suit for what type of cloth. They need to be aware of the latest trends and colors being used in the fabric designing industry. They should be aware of the quality of various dyes available in the market.
