Sir, I have done my 10th in 2012 and took admission in diploma in electrical engineering in 2014. I did not pass intermediate examination yet. I will complete my diploma in 2017. Can I sit in IIT entrance exam after passing my diploma exam?

No, candidates passed diploma degree from a recognised university are not eligible to appear for JEE examination and to get admission in IIT.

The candidates have to appear and qualify in two stages of JEE for final selection. The eligibility to appear for examination is :-

Candidate must have passed or appearing for 12th from a recognised board.

Candidate must have PCM as main paper.

So, candidates with diploma degree are not eligible to appear for entrance examination. So not eligible for admission in IIT.

Yes, you are eligible to appear in IIT entrance examination after completion of your three years Diploma in Electrical Engineering course without pursuing class 12th. To be eligible to appear in IIT entrance examination, you should have appeared, qualified and secured top 2,00,000 rank in JEE Main examination but, your JEE Main examination score or rank can't be used to apply for admission to engineering course in NIT.

Yes, you can surely apply for IIT entrance exam after diploma in electrical engineering without class 12th. If you are looking for lateral entry admission, then IITs don't offer it. You will get admission in first year of B.Tech, if you crack entrance exam.

Hence, just apply for JEE Main, if you are interested in IIT for B.Tech. Diploma holders are eligible for it, just like 12th pass students. Therefore, no need to worry about anything.

Diploma candidates are eligible for IIT entrance exam.

If you have completed 12th standard from a recognized board with physics, chemistry and mathematics with above 50% marks then you are eligible for IIT JEE exam. 5% marks relaxation is provided for SC/ST category candidates.

Your age should be in between 17 to 25 years.
