Can I study B.Tech in regular mode after completing Civil Engineering Diploma from IGNOU, Kerala?


Sir, I would like to enroll myself for Diploma course in Civil Engineering in IGNOU, Kerala. I want to know that after this course I am able to join B.Tech course in Civil Engineering in regular mode?

Yes you are eligible to pursue B.Tech after completing Diploma from IGNOU.
There will be no any problem regarding completion of Diploma from distance mode.
You can go through lateral entry and get admission directly in 2nd year.

Diploma in any branch of Engineering is a course which has a significant part of practicals.

IGNOU, being an open university, having all the courses in teh distance mode, doesn't offer technical diplomas as the AICTE prohibits any technical course from the distance learning mode.

Hence, you cannot enrol yourself in technical diploma in distance mode. You have to do it on regular basis. Then you can get admitted to te regular civil engineering on the basis of teh diploma.
