Yes, the scope for the polytechnic diploma holders is good in India. Candidates after completion of diploma can work in government and private companies. They can also study BE / BTech or AMIE after completion of a three year diploma. Candidates after completion of a three year diploma are admitted to the second year of the BE or BTech course through lateral entry mode. There are job opportunities for the diploma holders in Indian Railways, State Electricity Board/Department, BHEL, NTPC etc. The fees for the courses are nominal only. Those candidates who want to pursue their career in the engineering field can study polytechnic diploma course. |

Re: Is polytechnic good for future career in India?
Yes, polytechnic is good for building future career in India. You can opt for Polytechnic in Computer Science after completing 10th standard with at least 40% marks from a recognized board.
After completing Polytechnic in Computer Science course you can apply for job in numerous IT companies also you can go for further education in the same field like B.Tech/B.E in Computer Science. The best part of doing B.Tech course after completion of Polytechnic course in the relevant discipline is that you will be able to have indepth knowledge in your field and also you will have 2 technical degree after completion of Polytechnic and B.Tech/B.E course. So, after completion of 10th standard apply for polytechnic entrance exam conducted by your respective state board of technical education and try to achieve good rank in it so as to get admission into government polytechnic college. |

Re: Is polytechnic good for future career in India?
Polytechnic courses are good for gaining professional qualification straight after class 10th. You can try for job straight after polytechnic diploma unlike class 12th candidates.
There are various jobs available for diploma engineering candidates at various PSUs as well as private sector companies. Selection is mostly based on the performance in the interview. Hence, make sure that you complete the course from a reputed institution. |

Re: Is polytechnic good for future career in India?
If you want to pursue career in Computer Science, then diploma will not be that good an option as for other engineering streams.
But if you opt for diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics preferably, there are more than plenty of opportunities on govt and private sectors. You can then go for B.Tech or can directly join in work and get promoted to higher posts. CS Diploma vacancies are very very low and the seats reserved for lateral entry exam from polytechnic to degree in CS are also low. So, matter of fact, you need CS,go for degree. You need polytechnic,go for core streams. |
