Sir, I ave completed two years ITI Diesel Mechanics course. Now I want to know can I get admission in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering through lateral entry in government college?

To get a Lateral Entry admission in government colleges, you have to appear in Lateral Entry examination like:-

LEET

ECET

JELET etc.

Which is conducted by your respective State Technical Board.

By qualifying the entrance examination, based on your examination rank, you will be allotted seat in a particular college and you can get admission in 2nd year of 3 year Mechanical engineering course.

Yes, you can get admission in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course through lateral entry in government college after completion of your two years ITI Diesel Mechanic course. Candidates who have passed 12th standard with Vocational stream or two years ITI course from a recognised board/ institute are eligible to get admission in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course through lateral entry admission process. You need to appear, qualify and secure good rank in entrance examinations like VOCLET, etc., which is conducted by your respective state technical board of education for getting direct admission in second year of three years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course.

You can apply for polytechnic entrance exam as an ITI holder. You will be eligible for lateral entry through entrance exam conducted on state level. ITI or 12th PCM stream is considered for lateral entry admission.

Hence, make sure that you are well prepared for the entrance exam. Seats will be allotted through counselling based on rank.

There is one very good way to get admission is if you are ITI holder then on this basis you can get admission in that. If you have passed 12th then you may sit in the polytechnic compitition organized at state level. If you are the candidate of 10th then you may also apply in polytechnic to get admission the sit is allotted on the basis of counseling.
