Re: Can B.tech. in computer science engineer appear in the IPS
Dear friend, It is good that u are heading for IPS instead of corporate sector.
Minimum qualification is 55%. But take a look at upsc website as upsc has changed pattern of primilary exam. YOU will be able to pass only if you have great desire for social service just dont go after power and money. Now preparation... Make ur GS very strong for which u can refer weekly magazines, newspaper(regularly). Then optional .... upsc has mentioned a long list of optionals ...u can choose two. English is necessary and take any other one more language ...they are just for passing. sharpen your writting skills to write essay. |

Re: Can B.tech. in computer science engineer appear in the IPS
hi friend,
There is no seperate exam for IPS exam, IAS itself is an entry level test for it. In case of your clearance in test has achieved then you it will be upto you that you choose IAS(administrative post ie collector) or IPS(police post ie SP etc.). However from now the pattern of IAS has been changed, into which you need to select any subject. Syllabus for PRE: Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours•Current events of national and international importance •History of India and Indian National Movement •Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World. •Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc. •Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc. •General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization •General Science. Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours•Comprehension •Interpersonal skills including communication skills; •Logical reasoning and analytical ability •Decision making and problem solving •General mental ability •Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level) •English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level). •Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level Afterthat you have to select your subject, since you are a computer engineer, and no relevant subject is there in IAS , so you need to select any subject of your choice. |
