The lower age limit for IBPS clerk is 18 years. Those above 28 years are not eligible for clerical position. For P.O, the lower age limit is 21 years. Upper age limit in the case is 30 years. OBC candidates can expect 3 year age relaxation from all these cases. The rule is applicable for other central government jobs also.

Hi,

IBPS conducts exams for Bank PO and Bank Clerk.

There is an age relaxation in the eligibility criteria for OBC, SC/ST.

For general candidates age is between 20 -30 years for PO.

For OBC candidates the age is between 20 - 33 years.

For SC/ ST candidates age is between 20 -35 years.

So, there is an age relaxation of 3years for OBC candidates.

IBPS exams also reuire minimum graduation from a recognised university.

Eligibility Criterion For IBPS Bank Exams

IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) conducts exam for selections of candidates for 20 banks into clerical cadre as well probationary officer's post..

The candidates appearing for the Clerical Cadre must satisfy the following criterion :-

>> Candidate must be within the age limit of 20-28 years..

>> Candidate must have a degree from a recognized institution..

Candidates appearing for Probationary Officer's Post must comply with the following criterion :-

>> The candidate must be within the age limit of 21-30 years..

>> Candidate must have at least completed graduation with an aggregate of 55% from a recognized institute..

Note:- Age relaxation of 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years PD candidates for both the exams..

There are two major exams conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Services. The names are IBPS Clerk and IBPS Bank PO. Both exams are supported by 19 Public sector banks in the country.


Each exam has its own age limit, both lower and upper age. The candidates belonging to Other Backward Class are given 3 years relaxation in the upper age limit. Although the lower age limit remains the same.


This rule is not just followed in banking exams by IBPS but other central government jobs as well. OBC candidates are given 3 years relaxation in all the cases while SC/ST candidates are given 5 years relaxation.


IBPS Clerk Eligibility

1. You should be Indian citizen.

2. A graduation degree in any stream.

3. A diploma/degree in Computers. Alternatively you must have studied Computers as a subject in High School/College.

4. The age limit for Clerk exam is 20 to 28 years.
