my date of birth is 16 August 1997. am i eligible to appear IIT-JEE exam in the year 2014

Yes, You are eligible for IIT JEE 2014, But you should have Physics and Maths as compulsory Subjects in your +2.

PS:- From 2013 on wards there will be one common entrance , and only the top rankers would get a chance to sit for JEE.

So , study hard and try to secure good marks in your +2 as well as CET (Common Entrance Test) .

Yes, by the time it is 2014, you will be 17 years old. The minimum age for JEE or IIT or AIEEE is 17 years and it ranges upto 24-25 years. So you can opt for JEE, by the time it is year 2014. You will have to be a higher secondary degree holder or a 11th standard passout to opt for this examination. The examinations are held in around the last week of April or 1st week of May. Also if you apply for any such examinations consecutively for twice a year, then you will not be able to opt for it the next year. So make sure that you crack this thing within 2 years. your must be M.P.C student............with 60% +2 level.....for general candidates...SC students 55%..........

i couldnt clear iit mains2013. So will i be eligible for jee2014 or will it require 12th marks and jee mains marks? Kindly reply.

No you can't apply for IIT being 15 years old

Yes you are eligible to give the JEE exam as according to eligibility criteria one should be at least 17 years old to appear in the exam as you are born 1997 you will be 17 years in 2014 thus you are eligible to give the paper.
But you need to appear and score atleast 50% in all subjects in the 12th board exam to be eligible to give the JEE paper .
